Your First Visit to HAZE Beauty
Everything you need to know before your appointment 🌿
Visiting somewhere new can sometimes feel a little daunting, especially if you’ve never visited a home salon or had your chosen treatment before.
You might be wondering where to go, what to wear, whether you’ll need to undress, what happens with the dogs, or even whether you’ll feel comfortable when you arrive.
So I’ve put together this little guide to answer some of the questions you might have before your first visit.
HAZE Beauty is a private, professional ladies-only home salon in Bournemouth, offering one-to-one appointments in a calm and welcoming environment.
There won’t be a busy salon full of people or other clients sitting around while you’re having your treatment. Your appointment time is reserved for you, and my aim is for you to feel comfortable, listened to and genuinely looked after from the moment you arrive.
And most importantly — there is absolutely no judgement here. 💚
🌿 Arriving at HAZE Beauty
There is plenty of free street parking outside HAZE Beauty.
When you arrive, please use the private side entrance and ring the HAZE doorbell. You can then come through and make yourself comfortable in the sheltered waiting area.
I leave time between appointments to clean, reset the room and prepare everything for my next client, so please try not to arrive more than 5 minutes early unless we’ve arranged otherwise.
There is also a toilet available for clients to use.
If you can’t find me or you’re running late, just give me a call or send me a message.
🐾 What about the dogs?
This is probably worth explaining because HAZE is based at my home and yes — I have dogs!
In warm, dry weather they’re usually outside in their own fenced area. You’ll walk past them on your way into HAZE, but they’ll remain behind the fence.
During cooler or wet weather they’re kept safely at one end of the kitchen. You may see them as you walk through, but they won’t be able to jump up at you or get in your way.
They’re very friendly and they are never allowed inside the treatment room — they know the rules! 😂
If you love dogs and would like to say hello or give them a fuss, you’re more than welcome to. They certainly won’t complain!
If you’re nervous around dogs, please let me know before you arrive and I’ll do everything I can to make your arrival comfortable.
What if I have a dog allergy?
Although my dogs never enter the treatment room, they do live at the property. I therefore can’t guarantee a completely dog-allergen-free environment.
If you have a significant allergy, please contact me before your appointment so we can discuss whether HAZE will be suitable for you.
What happens when I arrive?
We’ll have a chat before your treatment begins.
If it’s your first appointment, we’ll go through your consultation, talk about what you’ve booked and discuss anything you’d like me to know.
Depending on your treatment, this could include things such as areas of tension, your preferred massage pressure, skin concerns, medical history or what you’re hoping to achieve from your appointment.
Your treatment isn’t something that’s simply done to you.
I want you to feel involved and comfortable asking questions, telling me what you like and, equally importantly, telling me what you don’t like.
I’ll explain anything you need to know before we start, so you don’t need to know salon etiquette or worry about doing something wrong.
👗 What should I wear?
For most treatments, just come in whatever you’re comfortable wearing.
If you are having a massage, you’ll only need to remove clothing from the areas that need to be treated.
For example:
- For a full-body massage, you’ll usually undress to your knickers/briefs.
- For a back massage, your bra will usually need to be removed, but you can keep your lower clothing on and simply lower it slightly where necessary.
- If you’re only having your legs treated, there’s no reason for you to remove clothing from your top half.
I’ll always explain what needs to be removed and then leave the room while you undress and get yourself comfortable.
You will never be expected to undress more than is necessary for your treatment or more than you feel comfortable with.
Will I be covered during my massage?
Yes.
Only the area I’m actually working on needs to be uncovered.
The rest of you will remain covered with towels, sheets and/or blankets depending on the treatment and temperature of the room.
Your privacy and comfort are extremely important to me.
💍 What about jewellery and contact lenses?
You don’t necessarily need to remove jewellery before you arrive.
If something needs to be removed for your treatment, I’ll let you know. I have a jewellery dish in the treatment roomwhere you can keep it safely during your appointment.
If you’re having a facial and wear contact lenses, you may prefer to remove them during your treatment. Bring your lens case/glasses or a replacement pair if required.
💚 What if I’m self-conscious?
Please don’t be.
Bodies have scars, stretch marks, cellulite, body hair, loose skin, spots, pigmentation, bruises and all sorts of completely normal things.
I am not looking at your body to judge it.
I’m concentrating on giving you your treatment, making you comfortable and looking after you.
If there’s something you’re particularly self-conscious or worried about, you’re welcome to tell me beforehand — but you don’t need to apologise for your body.
🤫 Do I have to talk during my treatment?
Absolutely not.
Some clients chat to me throughout their whole appointment. Some have a catch-up and then go quiet. Some fall asleep. Some want to completely switch off from the beginning.
All of those are fine.
If you’d prefer a silent appointment, just let me know. Once I’ve settled you in and checked you’re comfortable, I’ll let you enjoy the peace and quiet.
Equally, if you fancy a good chat, I’m happy with that too! 😂
This is your time.
💆 What if something doesn’t feel right?
Please tell me.
I’ll always ask about things such as massage pressure and comfort, but you don’t need to wait for me to ask.
If the pressure is too firm or too light, you’re too hot or cold, something hurts, you need to change position, you need the toilet or you simply want me to stop — say something straight away.
You will not offend me.
I’d much rather adjust what I’m doing than have you lie there uncomfortable because you’re worried about saying something.
🔒 Privacy, photographs & cameras
There are no cameras inside the HAZE Beauty treatment room.
For certain treatments, particularly IPL, I may need to take clinical before-and-after photographs. These allow me to monitor your treatment progress and form part of appropriate treatment records.
Any photographs taken for your treatment will be stored securely.
Your photographs will never be used on my website, social media or other marketing without your permission.
They would only otherwise be disclosed where legitimately required, for example for insurance purposes.
♿ Is HAZE Beauty accessible?
The HAZE Beauty treatment room and client toilet are both on the ground floor.
There are two small steps and some door thresholds when accessing the salon. I do have a wheelchair ramp available for the steps.
If you use a wheelchair, have reduced mobility or have any other accessibility requirements, please contact me before your appointment. I can have the ramp ready and talk you through the setup so that you can decide whether it will meet your individual needs.
I’ll always make reasonable adjustments where I’m able to.
💳 How do I pay?
I preferably accept the remaining balance for your treatment by cash or bank transfer.
Card payment is also available if required.
If you’ve already paid a booking fee, this will of course be deducted from the amount remaining.
🌿 Cleanliness & your treatment space
Your treatment room is cleaned and reset between every client, with fresh linens and everything prepared ready for your appointment.
I deliberately leave time between appointments so that I can properly clean, reset and prepare rather than rushing one client out as the next arrives.
It also means that when it’s your appointment, the room and my attention are ready for you.
And finally… please don’t worry! 💚
You don’t need to know what you’re doing.
You don’t need to know which massage pressure you like.
You don’t need perfect skin before having a facial.
You don’t need to apologise for your body.
And you definitely don’t need to worry about asking a “silly” question.
That’s my job.
I’ll talk you through anything you need to know and make sure you’re settled and comfortable before your treatment begins.
HAZE Beauty was created to be somewhere women can come and feel comfortable, listened to, relaxed and genuinely cared for.
I look forward to welcoming you.
