What Type of Massage Should I Book?

With so many different types of massage available, knowing which one to book can sometimes feel a little confusing.

Do you need something relaxing? Something to work on tight, aching muscles? Would hot stones help? What about lymphatic drainage? And what if you’re pregnant, going through menopause or living with a condition such as fibromyalgia?

At HAZE Beauty in Bournemouth, my treatments are tailored to the individual rather than following exactly the same routine for everyone. Here’s a simple guide to help you decide which massage might suit you.

Tailored Touch

If you’re simply thinking “I need a massage!”, this is usually the best place to start.

My Tailored Touch Massage can be adapted to what your body needs on the day. You can choose your preferred pressure and let me know if there are particular areas you’d like me to concentrate on or avoid.

It can be used for relaxation, general muscle tension or simply some much-needed time to switch off.

Available in 30, 45, 60 and 90-minute appointments.

Hot Stones or Warm Bamboo

If you enjoy warmth during your massage, these are lovely options.

Hot stones use smooth heated stones alongside massage techniques, while warm bamboo uses warmed bamboo tools to massage the body.

Both can be incredibly relaxing and are particularly lovely during the colder months. Your treatment can still be adapted to your preferred pressure and the areas you would like me to concentrate on.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD)

MLD is very different from a traditional massage.

It uses gentle, rhythmic movements designed to encourage the natural movement of lymphatic fluid around the body. Because of this, you shouldn’t expect the deeper pressure you might associate with a massage for muscular tension.

I offer MLD as a standalone treatment, including post-operative MLD where appropriate, and treatments can be tailored to specific areas such as the face and neck.

Menopause Massage

My Menopause Massage is designed specifically to offer relaxation and support during this stage of life.

It’s a full-body treatment using your preferred massage pressure, combined with an essential-oil blend and selected acupressure points.

As always, the treatment is adapted to you and how you’re feeling on the day.

Fibrotherapy

For clients living with fibromyalgia, a standard massage may sometimes feel too intense.

Fibrotherapy uses slower, lighter techniques and the treatment is adapted around your individual symptoms and sensitivity on the day.

A 60-minute treatment is ideal, although if you’re unsure how your body will respond to massage, you can start with a shorter 30-minute Tailored Touch appointment and let me know that you have fibromyalgia when booking.

Pregnancy Massage

Pregnancy massage is adapted to keep you comfortable as your body changes throughout pregnancy.

Once you have a bump, much of the massage can be carried out with you comfortably positioned on your side. The treatment can be adapted around areas of discomfort and your preferences

Oncology Massage

Having or having had cancer doesn’t automatically mean massage is off limits.

I am trained in Oncology Massage, allowing treatments to be safely adapted around an individual’s cancer diagnosis, treatment and circumstances.

This is a gentle, individually tailored treatment, and I’ll discuss any necessary adaptations with you.

Mindful Massage

If what you really need is some quiet time to slow down and switch off, my Mindful Massage is another option.

This 45-minute treatment focuses on creating a calm, relaxing experience rather than working intensely on muscular tension — ideal when life feels particularly busy or you simply need some time for yourself.

Still not sure which massage to choose?

Don’t worry!

One of the benefits of visiting a private, one-to-one salon is that your treatment doesn’t have to fit neatly into a box. I’ll always discuss how you’re feeling, your preferences and what you’d like from your appointment before we begin.

HAZE Beauty is a ladies-only home salon in BH11, Bournemouth, specialising in massage, skin treatments and IPL.

If you’re unsure which massage to book, you’re always welcome to contact me and I’ll help you choose the most suitable option.
