Why taking time for yourself isn't selish
Life has a habit of getting busy.
Work, family, appointments, housework, messages, errands… there’s nearly always something that needs doing, and taking time for yourself can quickly end up at the bottom of the list.
But looking after yourself doesn’t have to mean extravagant spa days or having hours of free time. Sometimes it simply means deliberately making a little space in your week or month that is just for you.
You don’t have to earn rest
It can be tempting to think, “I’ll relax when everything is done.”
But when is everything actually done? 😂
There will nearly always be another job, another load of washing or something else demanding your attention.
Taking some time out doesn’t mean you’re being lazy or selfish. Rest and relaxation can simply be part of looking after your overall wellbeing.
Self-care looks different for everyone
Self-care has become a bit of a buzzword, but it doesn’t need to be complicated.
For one person it might be going for a walk. For somebody else it could be reading, having an early night, meeting a friend, going to the gym or simply sitting somewhere quietly with a cup of tea.
And for some people, it might be booking a treatment and knowing that for the next hour, they don’t have to do anything at all.
You don’t need to have something “wrong”
You don’t need aching shoulders or a painful back to justify booking a massage.
Of course, many clients come to me because they have areas of tension they’d like me to concentrate on, but it’s equally okay to book because you’re tired, you’ve had a busy few weeks or you simply fancy some time to yourself.
Not every massage needs a problem to solve.
Sometimes feeling relaxed is reason enough.
Your treatment, your time
One of the things I love about running HAZE Beauty is being able to offer completely private, one-to-one appointments.
There isn’t a busy salon around you or another client waiting beside you.
You can chat if you fancy a chat. You can be completely quiet. You can close your eyes and switch off — and if you fall asleep, I promise I won’t be offended!
Your treatment can also be adapted to how you’re feeling that day, including your preferred pressure and any areas you’d particularly like me to concentrate on or avoid.
Make some space for yourself
HAZE Beauty is a private, ladies-only home salon in BH11, Bournemouth, offering massage, skin treatments and IPL.
So whether massage is already part of your regular routine or you can’t remember the last time you did something purely for yourself, you’re always welcome.
And you definitely don’t need to feel guilty about it.
